Making long lengths of tubing with spiral outer surface winding uses two continuously-extruded thermo-setting materials which are cooled during extrusion of tube and hollow spiral winding cord, then heated immediately after extrusion as they are assembled to fasten them together. The procedure for making long lengths of tubing with a spiral outer surface winding uses two continuously-extruded thermo-setting materials (A, B) which are cooled during the extrusion of the tube (1) and a hollow spiral winding cord (2), and then heated immediately after extrusion as they are assembled to fasten them together. The tube and winding are produced by two separate extrusion heads (5), with the spiral winding head rotating round the fixed tube extruding head, which has a die (14) at its outlet end, and is connected to a source (6) of a coolant fluid e.g. water. After the spiral winding has been applied to the tube the assembled components pass through a vulcanising kiln to polymerise them.
