Telecommunication cable comprises four groups of insulated conductors (1 to 4) spread in transverse section around a yoke (7a). The cable has a sensibly transversal elliptical section and the yoke positions the cable pairs into four groups of wires sensibly at the peaks of a lozenge (S1a-S4a). The two groups (1,3) at the ends of the lozenge (S1a,S3a) along the smallest diagonal has smaller twist than those (2,4) at the ends of the lozenges largest diagonal. The cable pairs are held in open ended enclosures (81a-84a) extending. The helicoidal shape results from twisting of the yoke at the time of cable assembly into groups of pairs. The yoke is made from a flexible dielectric or semi-conducting material. When made from a dielectric material the yoke is covered by a electrically conducting layer.
