Device for fast control of insulated-gate switch/interrupter for high and very high current pulses, comprises means for switching control on account of energy in load circuit
The device for controlling an insulated-gate switch (2) of high-current pulses in a load circuit (6) comprises a circuit (36) for setting the switch in conducting state including a control circuit functioning on the account of energy in the load circuit, and a circuit (40) for setting the switch in nonconducting state. The control circuit comprises a control switch/transistor (38), a diode (42) connected in series with the control switch, and a clamping diode (43) so that the control switch functions under a reduced voltage. The switch (2) comprises at least one insulated-gate transistor (4) whose gate terminal (23) is connected by a resistor (34) to a control terminall (22), and the main terminals (12,14) correspond to the drain and the source of the transistor. The insulated-gate transistor (4) is of type MOS, IGBT, or a component of type insulated-gate (IG) or field-effect (FE). The switch (2) comprises a set of transistors connected in parallel and/or series. The control switch (38) with insulated-gate is a transistor or a component of type FE. The switch/interrupter for fast switching or short pulses of high and very high current comprises a set of insulated-gate components which are divided into groups and mounted, connected and assembled according to the high-busbar technology, in parallel, in series, or in parallel and in series, and controlled by a device as proposed which is associated with each group. The assembly is e.g. of a printed circuit board or dimensions greater than 290 mm and comprises more than 30 insulated-gate components connected in parallel on the same support. The clamping means are associated with each set of insulated-gate components. The control circuit comprises a pulse generator of type voltage chopper, capacitor charge, and/or voltage ladder. The assembly also comprises other passive and active elements.
