Block (14) for causing excitatory vibration of a structure (10) to be analyzed has a plane lower face (16) for fixing it to a portion of the surface (12) of the object to be analyzed and a plane excitation surface (26), which is able to receive an excitation impact. The excitation surface is inclined relative to the mounting surface so that the structure to be analyzed is excited in at least two directions (D1, D2) that are non-parallel to the impact or excitation surface. Alternately one corner of the block can be inclined so that excitation forces can be applied in three non- parallel directions to the structure being analyzed.
