Counter current swimming pool has a pool (2) and a pump (6) with which a counter current is created in the pool. In addition detection means (26) are used to determine the position of a swimmer in the pool, while a pump controller is used to adjust the output of the pump dependent on swimmer position. An Independent claim is made for a method for regulating the current in a counter current swimming pool so that it is matched to a swimmer's speed and or position.
