The storage box is configured to look like a stack of bank notes, with an impression of a single note covering the lid, and markings on the sides like the edges of stacked notes. The box contains electronic circuits and aerial enabling the box to be located using GPS and GSM systems in the event of theft of bank notes including this dummy box. The storage box for use with bank notes comprises a rectangular box having a base and corresponding cover. The cover has an image of the bank note on the top surface, and markings on the sides indicating the parallel edges of stacked notes. Within the box there are seatings in which circuit elements are accommodated. The box is held together by a band wrapped in a similar manner to the tape around a bundle of bank notes. This serves as an aerial linked to the signalling circuits mounted within the box. The signalling circuits may include a micro-programmed circuit and a radio frequency coupler. There may also be a GPS circuit and a link to a GSM telecommunications network.
