Production of inert ceramic articles with a porosity of 50-60%, a pore size of 200-600 microns and a compressive strength of 40-50 MPa/cm2 comprises pre-sintering a porous ceramic material (produced by impregnating a foam with a suspension of ceramic particles and drying the product) at a temperature above 1200 deg C, impregnating it with a concentrated suspension of ceramic particles, and resintering it at a temperature above 1600 deg C.
