A cremation remains container 10 comprising a receptacle 12 for cremation ashes and a memorial plaque 70 movably mounted to the receptacle for movement between a display position exposing the plaque 70, and a storage position concealing the plaque. The plaque 70 may be slidably mounted in the base 14 of the container 10. The container 10 may comprise a box structure with a hinged cover 20 containing a transparent pane 52 for viewing of the container contents 62, 64. A removable tray 60 may also be provided for holding mementos 62, 64 and a photo frame may be provided on the container cover 20.
