A method for automatically indexing engineering drawings through their associated text

Engineering drawings (/technical drawings), which are in digital format, are automatically indexed for storage in a database by first identifying each separate drawing and then by identifying text associated with each drawing. A search is made for key words within each drawing such as the Title, the Drawing number, and the Version number as well as more general text, so that a user may retrieve drawings by reference to these key words.
