A table of frequency offset history for individual devices in a wireless network is used to adjust the centre frequency of a signal received. The pre-seeded expected frequency offset for a bluetooth transmission facilitates faster connection, and uses less processing time in a steady state piconet environment. The frequency of a local oscillator is offset by an equal and opposite amount to the recorded past setting. The actual frequency offset may subsequently be calculated and stored.
