Method and apparatus for reducing dioxin and furan produced during refuse incineration

PURPOSE: To suppress forming of dioxin and furane by guiding a funnel gas and fly ash grains to a sec. combustion chamber separated from a combustion chamber and incinerating at 800 deg.C or more. CONSTITUTION: An incinerator apparatus is composed of an incinerator 1 and sec. burner chamber 2, the incinerator 1 has a grate 3 and combustion chamber 4 above, it, dust is introduced from a chute 5 and burnt. In the sec. burner chamber 2, a vortical flow of the funnel gas and fly ash grains forcedly accompanied therewith is maintained and oxygen is fed mainly as an air into the sec. combustion chamber 2 as shown by arrow 19. The size of the sec. combustion chamber 2 is determined so that the residence time of the funnel gas is at least 2 sec. and at least the sec. combustion chamber 2 is held at 800 deg.C. Thus the perfect incineration of the funnel gas is attained, irrespective of a comparative short residence time.
