PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a freshness-retaining agent capable of continuously retarding automatic deterioration such as discoloration, pliableness or the like of fresh plants in transportation and storage, capable of improving preservative property and also effective in preventing quality degradation due to pollutant bacteria by including eugenol or the like along with titanium oxide.;SOLUTION: This freshness-retaining agent for fresh product and flowering plants is prepared by including eugenol and/or its derivative (preferably isoeugenol, methyleugenol or eugenyl acetate) along with titanium (preferably anatase titanium dioxide). Eugenol is expressed by the formula and the weight ratio of (eugenol: titanium oxide) is preferably (1:100)-(1:3). Titanium oxide for pigment is implied in the above titanium oxide, and titanium oxide not for pigment such as moist titanium oxide, fine grain titanium oxide, acicular titanium oxide, lower titanium oxide, capsulated titanium oxide, an artificial precious stone titanium (titania) or the like is also implied.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
