PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of detecting stepping out of a stepping motor and improving processing efficiency by stopping the stepping motor for a while and then restarting it when the stepping out is detected while paper jam does not occur at a feeding roller driven by the stepping motor stepped out in the case of using the stepping motor in a feeding system of the image forming device.;SOLUTION: In this image forming device using the stepping motor as a driving source of a sheet feeding system, the stepping motor is driven by switching phase excitation of exciting current supplied to an exciting coil of a motor whenever a driving signal is added. The device is provided with a stepping out detecting means to determine that stepping out has occurred when a measured result of a change in a value of current passed through the exciting coil of the motor measured by a measuring means for a specified time is above a predetermined value, and a sheet detecting means is provided on a sheet feeding passage of the sheet feeding system. The device is also provided with a control means for stopping the motor to supply current to the motor and then restarting it when the motor is determined to step out by the stepping out detecting means while a sheet is not detected by the sheet detecting means.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
