PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide information providing system which is capable of providing an accurate route from the place where a user is at present to a destination for a user as a plain guide information suitable for actual use at low rates.;SOLUTION: This guide information providing system informs a guide center 3 of positional information containing the installation position and direction of a fixed- type terminal 1 such as a public telephone installed on the street or the like, the guide center 3 generates guide information that contains a route from the place where the terminal is installed to a destination, taking advantage of the accurate positional information of the fixed-type terminal 1 and replies to the fixed-type terminal 1. The guide center 3 can be informed of the kind of guide information from the terminal 1 and provides guide information corresponding to the kind designated by the user. The terminal is equipped with a means 12 that indicates guide information to the user.
