EARTHQUAKE-PROOF DIAGNOSTIC METHOD OF TIMBER BUILDING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of easily and accurately diagnosing earthquake- proof of a timber building and to provide a diagnostic system applying the method.;SOLUTION: In this earthquake-proof diagnostic system, vibration meters are mounted on an uppermost floor and a lowermost floor of the building, micro-vibration of the building is measured for about five minutes in a state of tranquility, the complexity of quake of the vibration waveform is calculated on the basis of a chaos degree, and the value is converted into a value equivalent to the total score mentioned in 'quake-resistance diagnostic workup and reinforcement method' under the editorship of the Ministry of construction (currently, national land and transportation ministry). Whereby the conventional complicated operation relating to the measurement of the amount of wall of the building can be liberated and the earthquake-proof diagnosis can be performed in a short time without lowering the diagnostic accuracy.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
