Expanding and contracting Simultaneous Peripheral Operation On-Line

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expandable/contractible spool capable of recoiling a coiled foil with a paper spool by a low cost cone type reel. ;SOLUTION: A spool consists of plural segments (1) of the shape which splits a hollow cylindrical body having an outer diameter roughly the same as an inner diameter of coiled foil, a hollow spreader (2) for expanding/ contracting connected to the inside of segment (1) through a link (7) and a hollow arbor (3) inserted into the inner diameter part of the spreader (2) for expanding/contracting. Further, the spool consists of two adapters (8a, 8b) for two coilers fixed to both end parts of the arbor (3), bearings (9, 10, 11, 12) inserted into the inner diameter part at one side of the end part of the arbor (3), a nut (4) supported with the bearings (9, 10, 11, 12) and a screw bar (5) screwed to the nut (4) and fixed to the spreader (2) for expanding/contracting with a key (6). When the nut (4) is rotated, the segment (1) is ascended or descended, the outer diameter is expanded or reduced.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
