PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide joining of a steel frame beam and a steel frame column of high strength by increasing efficiency of working and reducing welding materials through omission of using a back strip. ;SOLUTION: A groove 5 having a slant surface 6 and a bottom surface 7 are formed on a flange 3 of a steel frame beam 1 made of a wide flange beam, and at the same time a joining tongue part 8 is formed on the bottom side of the groove 5 leaving a part of the flange 3. On a web 4 of the steel frame beam 1, a notched part 9 is formed. A steel frame column 2 and a steel frame beam 1 are arranged so as to abut a tip end of the joining tongue part 8 on the side surface of the steel frame column 2, the inner side of the flange 3 is welded 10 on a side surface of the steel frame column 2, welding metal 11 is stepwise built up on the joining tongue part 8 of the steel frame beam 1, and thus the inner side of the groove 5 is filled with the welding metal 11. Because of omission of use of a backing strip, assembling and welding work of the backing strip is omitted, so increasing of efficiency of working and reducing of welding materials are excecuted. Because of direct welding of the steel frame column and the steel frame beam, there is no fear of welding defects when using the backing strip, and welding of high strength is obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
