PURPOSE: To produce a high hardness worked product by subjecting an inexpensive precipitation hardening high silicon stainless steel to specified heat treatment. ;CONSTITUTION: A stainless steel contg. ≤0.5% C, 3.0 to 5.0% Si, ≤0.2% Mn, 5 to 10% Ni, 6 to 12% Cr, 0.2 to 1% Mo, 0.5 to 3% Cu, and the balance Fe is subjected to solution treatment at 900 to 1000°C, is thereafter quenched and is next subjected to refining at 600 to 700°C. After that, it is subjected to solution treatment at 950 to 1150°C and is subsequently subjected to quenching to regulate the surface hardness to 35 to 45 expressed in terms of Shore hardness HS. Successively, it is subjected to age hardening treatment of executing holding for at least ≥10min to 420 to 520°C per cm thickness of the steel and being finished within 7hr to increase the surface hardness to 65 to 85 expressed in terms of Shore hardness HS. This heat treatment can be applied to a forming material by rolling, forging and casting, and it is made possible that the final age hardening treatment is executed after machining to form into a specific product shape to form it into a high hardness worked product.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
