Hierarchical type Hough transform treatment manner and its central processing unit

PURPOSE: To considerably shorten the processing time of Huff conversion detecting a linear component in a picture. ;CONSTITUTION: An SΘ plane is divided into I×J-pieces of rectangular areas and the areas of XY planes corresponding to the rectangular areas are set to be rectangular areas where four straight lines on the XY planes corresponding to the coordinates of four apexes areas made to be boundary lines so as to obtain them. The number of black picture element points in the respective rectangular areas is counted and they are set to be the representative values of the respective rectangular areas. The black picture element points in the respective rectangular areas is counted in a W-bit unit. Then, θ is scanned only on k-pieces of rectangular areas from the rectangular area having the maximum value of the obtained representative values to the rectangular area having a highest k-numberd value. The cumulative degree distribution of the black picture element points is obtained on the SΘ plane. The coordinate of the point with the high value is obtained and a linear expression on the XY- coordinate, which the coordinate satisfies, is obtained.
