PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the biometrics authentication system, the collation device, the collation method, the collation program, and the recording medium capable of reducing in size a sensor the devices for authentication, reducing the cost and power consumption and advantageous to improve their safety.;SOLUTION: Registration data divided into division areas A1 and A2, and collation data generated by LSI for collation are compared for the respective division areas A1 and A2 so as to obtain a degree of collation which shows a degree of correspondence between the collation data and the registration data, so that the degree of collation of the division area A2 is high, while the degree of collation of the division area A1 decreases. Thus, it is possible to determine that a position of a finger is relatively shifted upward (toward a fingertip) with respect to a detection area 1202.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
