PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To predict a traffic situation after the present time with respect to a particular area and a particular direction. PSOLUTION: A traffic situation prediction system for predicting a traffic situation after the present time is provided with a detecting means for detecting a traffic situation with respect to a road section included in a predetermined area, a present traffic situation grasping means for classifying the traffic situations detected by the detecting means to any direction among predetermined eight directions or predetermined four directions and grasping the present traffic situation in each of the same area and the same direction, a past traffic situation storing means for classifying past traffic situations with respect to a road section included in the predetermined area to any direction among the predetermined eight directions or predetermined four directions for storage, a traffic situation predicting means for predicting a traffic situation after the present time with respect to the particular area and a particular direction on the basis of the present traffic situation grasped by the present traffic situation grasping means and the past traffic situation stored in the past traffic situation storing means, and an outputting means for outputting the traffic situation after the present time, predicted by the traffic situation predicting means.
