Border selection manner null of the color picture which applies fuzzy inference

PURPOSE:To adapt a systematic inference to each method by means of a fuzzy inference and also to facilitate the control of a parameter. CONSTITUTION:A membership function is controlled in accordance with the characteristic of an image and then six rules are applied to the lightness value of each pixel of the image. Then a rule that can acquire the maximum value by a fuzzy arithmetic operation is decided among those six rules. The pattern of the adopted rule is defined as the contour direction, and the inference result of the rule is defined as the contour intensity respectively. The same inference is performed also with the hue value of each pixel, and the contour direction and intensity are calculated for each pixel. Then an AND or OR operation is carried out between the contour intensity calculated by the inference of the lightness value and the contour intensity calculated by the inference of the hue value. Furthermore the chroma saturation of each pixel value is used as the load value. In such a constitution applying the fuzzy inference, the contour of a color image is extracted.
