PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect unintended variation in the color tone of image data. PSOLUTION: A color conversion unit 12 of an image processing system 10 receives image data and uses a color conversion processing section 20 to apply color conversion (color correction) to the image data. An electronic watermark embedding section 22 then embeds electronic watermark information denoting the color tone characteristic value of the image data to the image data themselves just after the color conversion (color correction) by the color conversion processing section 20. Before an image output apparatus 16 outputs an image on the basis of the image data, a color tone variation detection section 24 of an output controller 18 compares the color tone characteristic value of the actual image data with the color tone characteristic value embedded to the image data by electronic watermarking to detect color tone conversion after the color correction, and a detection result display section 26 displays the result for user's information.
