PURPOSE:To a calcium absorbefacient water-soluble fraction, available from a proteolytic enzyme-treated protein obtained by treating a protein derived from a fishery product with a proteolytic enzyme, useful as a food, a feed or a medicine, etc., and capable of promoting the absorption of calcium in an enteric canal. CONSTITUTION:This fraction is a water-soluble one in a proteolytic enzyme- treated protein prepared by treating a protein derived from a fishery product such as a cod or a krill with a proteolytic enzyme such as pepsin. This calcium absorbefacient composition is obtained by removing insoluble fractions by centrifugation, etc., and then drying and powdering the resultant substance. The obtained composition is effectively usable by adding a small amount thereof.
