PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a thin cast slab excellent in the surface characteristic and a product using this thin cast slab by preventing the development of crack, scum flaw and uneven brightness on the surface of the cast slab caused by entrapment of the scum in a casting system for thin cast slab with a twin-drum type continuous casting system.;SOLUTION: In the casting system for thin cast slab with which molten metal is poured into a molten metal pool part formed with respective parts of the peripheral surfaces of one pair of the cooling-drums and side weirs and scum weirs disposed in the molten metal and the cast slab is continuously cast while cooling and solidifying the molten metal with the rotated peripheral surfaces of the cooling-drums, the scum weir is made of a material limiting the content of element for reducing the surface tension by reacting with the molten metal, or a material containing element for raising the surface tension by reacting with the molten metal.
