PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently transmit or store binary image data which are in two different states while being in a compressed state and which are generated based on the same image data. PSOLUTION: A transmitter side generates differential image data equivalent to the difference between one of binary image data (first image data) and the other binary image data (second image data), compresses the first image data to generate first compressed image data, compresses the differential image data to generate compressed differential image data, and transmits the first compressed image data and the compressed differential image data. A receiver side receives the first compressed image data and the compressed differential image data, expands the first compressed image data to restore the first image data, expands the compressed differential image data to restore the differential image data, and restores the second image data from the first image data and the differential image data.
