PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer thin film in which clay mineral layers and metal ultrathin film layers are alternately layered, and a metal ultrathin film.;SOLUTION: Cationic metal ultrafine particles are self-inserted between layers of a clay mineral having a layered structure to form a multilayer thin film composite body where clay mineral layers and cationic metal ultrafine particle layers are alternately layered. A multilayer thin film containing metal ultrafine film layers is manufactured by heating the resulting composite body to melt and flatten the metal ulrafine particle layers to be converted into metal ultrathin film layers.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
