PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for oxidative desulfurizing, capable of selectively and effectively oxidizing and removing hardly removable sulfur compounds contained in a fuel oil, for example, organic sulfur compounds, especially dibenzothiofene.;SOLUTION: In the method, the fuel oil containing sulfur compounds is treated by an oxidizing agent in the presence of a polar organic solvent and an immobilized transition metal catalyst to desulfurize the sulfur compounds.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
