PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make retrievable an address code even by a character distinguishable only from a part of addresses or written by an ordinarily unused and unreadable character.;SOLUTION: A corresponding address place name is selected by displaying the address place name retrieved by a retrieving means by retrieving the address code from a part of the address place name including a detailed place name or a plurality of parts of the address place name including the detailed place name by using a merged database 4 by forming an address code database 2 for storing a division place name by dividing the address place name and the address code corresponding to the place name, an address database 3 for collectively storing even the division place name and the detailed place name for expressing the inside of the division place name in detail, and the merged database 4 for judging whether or not the division place name is the same.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
