PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the data recording method of a disk array device, capable of efficiently using the recording capacity of a record medium and recording and reproducing data by changing the size of a data block corresponding to the size of the data transferred from a host computer. SOLUTION: The data transferred from a host computer 8 are divided into plural data blocks, and the respective data blocks are transferred in parallel to arrayed disk drives 1-1 to 1-N. They are distributed and recorded in optical disk media 5-1 to 5-N, mounted to the respective disk drives 1-1 to 1-N. Then, the plural data blocks distributed and recorded in the optical disk media 5-1 to 5-N are restored to original data and transferred to the host computer 8. At this time, by changing the size of the data block to 4S bytes and 2S bytes corresponding to the size of a file, substantially the same number is recorded in the respective optical disk media 5-1 to 5-N.
