PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound useful for an organic nonlinear optical material for elements having a high wavelength conversion ratio, by substituting a hydrogen atom in a molecule of an organic optical material with a deuterium atom in a wavelength conversion related to an optical transmission wavelength range. ;SOLUTION: 2-chloro-5-nitropyridine is reacted with 1-adamantanamine in which a hydrogen atom of an amino group part is substituted with deuterium. The reaction product is cooled, precipitated, filtered, cleaned, dissolved in a solvent and recrystallized in the solvent to form a granular crystal of 2- adamantylamino-5-nitropyridine in which a hydrogen atom of an N-H part is substituted with deuterium.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
