PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide alumina having high specific surface area than before, and stable at a high temperature, especially to provide alpha-type alumina.;SOLUTION: The alumina is manufactured such that at least one selected from among aluminum alcoxide, barium alcoxide, or cesium alcoxide is added to water-in-oil nano-emulsion, in aluminum to barium mol ratio of 12:1 and 12:0 when only barium alcoxide is added, in aluminum to cesium mol ratio of 6:1 and 6:0 when only cesium alcoxide is added, or when both the barium alcoxide and cesium alcoxide are added, each alcoxide is prorated in each mol ratio, the obtained hydrolyzate is subjected to aging, separation, and calcinations, thereby the alpha-type alumina having ≥20 m2/g specific surface area, and the alumina having ≥100 m2/g at the temperature of ≥1,000°C.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
