PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the uniformity of the broken section in a material at the time punching by controlling the size of inclusions contained in the material to a specified ratio to the sheet thickness of the material. ;SOLUTION: This is the material for a lead frame contg., by weight, 30 to 50% Ni, and, in the case the sheet thickness of the material is defined as (t), the size of inclusions is controlled to ≤0.07 t. Since the clearance at the time of punching a lead frame by a press is generally set to 0.07 t at the maximum, the inclusions can pass through the clearance for the most part, so that the linearity of the boundary between the sheared section and the broken section can be obtd. Moreover, in the case MnS of 0.2 to 3 μm grain size contributing to its free-cuttability even among the inclusions in the ratio of 1,000 to 60,000 pieces/mm2, breaking uniformly occurs in all faces. The preferable componential compsn. of the material is composed of, by weight, 0.003 to 0.02% C, 0.05 to 1.0% Si, 0.1 to 1.5% Mn, 30 to 50% Ni, 0.0005 to 0.02% S, 0.001 to 0.02% N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
