PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound useful for a catalyst component, etc., for polymerizing an olefin having high polymerization activity. ;CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I [M is transition metal of group IVB: Cp1 and Cp2 are group having (substituted)cyclopentadienyl skeleton; Cp1 and Cp2 may be bound through (substitute)alkylene or (substituted)silylene; R1 is (substituted)alkyl or (substituted)aryl; X is SO2R1 or halogen], e.g. bis(cyclopentadienyl)-zirconium(IV)-bis(methanesulfinate).
