PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of adjusting an amount of additives such as bentonite, new sand, and fine powder before occurrence of defected castings by observing compressive strength and a permeable degree as a property of casting sand and by giving a warning before an effective clay content/ grain size distribution enter into a danger zone. ;SOLUTION: Abnormal fluctuation of an effective clay content/grain size distribution is easily found and forecast by memorizing values of compressive strength and a permeable degree measured by a sand-property measuring apparatus, and by calculating the values of the compressive strength and the degree of the permeable degree by means of moving averages of designated points, and calculating a deviation with a controlled value, and calculating an accumulated sum of respective deviations, and determining whether the accumulated sum of respective deviation is in a continuous decline or rise.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
