PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an identification method of an unknown system by a coefficient update algorithm for a band split adaptive filter with a short convergence time by using a limited arithmetic amount or a memory capacity.;SOLUTION: The identification device consists of an unknown system 108 that receives an input signal, a band split filter 102 that splits the received signal into a plurality of sub band reference input signals, an independent adaptive filter 106 that receives each sub band reference input signal, a coefficient update section 105 that updates its coefficient, a 2nd band split filter 109 that divides an output signal of the unknown system into a plurality of sub band main input signals, and an error signal calculation section 111 that calculates a sub band error signal being a difference between a plurality of sub band main input signals and a plurality of output signals of the adaptive filter, and any of a plurality of coefficient update algorithms is selected adaptively once for a period based on the reference input signal, the main input signal or an error signal and the coefficient of the adaptive filter is updated thereby.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
