PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film for a thermal transfer image receiving sheet having excellent surface smoothness, sufficient image density and excellent resistance to folding wrinkles and a thermal transfer image receiving sheet. ;SOLUTION: A polyester layer (B layer) containing many inorganic fine particles is joined to at least one side (A) of a fine void containing polyester film having a nominal specific gravity of 0.7 to 1.3 and obtained by biaxially stretching and heat treating a polymer mixture in which a polyester and at least one kind of polyester that is not soluble to the polyester are mixed together, and the inorganic particle density in the B layer is 20 wt.% or greater and the thickness of the B layer is less than 30% of the overall thickness.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
