PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a different notation conversion method capable of heightening the conversion processing efficiency. SOLUTION: In this different notation conversion method, when a word is input from an input part such as a keyboard to a control part, a storage device having a different notation word storing part storing word groups of different notation is retrieved to convert the word to a universal use word corresponding to the input word. The storage device is provided with a reloadable list storage part storing the number of words of different notation words corresponding to the respective words and an address list containing addresses showing storage places of all different notation words corresponding to the respective words. The list storage part is retrieved by the input word, and words are read out from the different notation word storage part in the order of addresses stored in the address list by the number of words of the different notation words and the address list corresponding to the input word and displayed. The universal use word selected from the displayed words is obtained, and that part of the list storage part is reloaded so that the address showing the storage place for the selected word is the beginning of the address list corresponding to the word.
