PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable descaling of even a metallic strip on which surfaces dense oxidized films are formed with one time of pickling by subjecting the strip consisting of a copper metal to airplane cloth polishing by airplane cloth rolls for cracking the scale formed on the strip surfaces prior to pickling after the soln. heat treatment of the strip. ;SOLUTION: The strip 1 of the copper alloy contg. 2 to 5% Ti is subjected to the soln. heat treatment by rapid cooling with a cooler 5 and is passed through a drying device 7. Both front and rear surfaces of the strip are then subjected to airplane cloth polishing with an airplane cloth device 9. An airplane cloth roll 9a and a backup roll 9b are formed as one set and the set for the front surface polishing of the strip 1 and the set for rear surface polishing thereof are arranged in an adjacent relation in this airplane cloth device 9. The airplane cloth formed by incorporating aluminum, etc., into nylon yarn is used for the airplane cloth rolls 9a. The rolls having a diameter of 350 to 600 mm are preferably used for the back up rolls 9b facing to the airplane cloth rolls 9a. The oxidized films formed on the front surface of the strip 1 are uniformly and flatly polished and the pickling of a post stage is more efficiently executed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
