Both front and rear surfaces of the strip are then subjected to airplane cloth polishing with an airplane cloth device 9. An airplane cloth roll 9a and a backup roll 9b are formed as one set and the set for the front surface polishing of the strip 1 and the set for rear surface polishing thereof are arranged in an adjacent relation in this airplane cloth device 9. The airplane cloth formed by incorporating aluminum, etc., into nylon yarn is used for the airplane cloth rolls 9a. The rolls having a diameter of 350 to 600 mm are preferably used for the back up rolls 9b facing to the airplane cloth rolls 9a.
