PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for working a screw hole for spacer fitting in which the screw hole for fitting a spacer is easily formed in an end face of a main spindle of a machine tool with high accuracy.;SOLUTION: A screw hole working unit 20 is installed on a table 13 of the machine tool, and the alignment for obtaining the center of the main spindle 12 is performed by a dial gauge fitted to a shaft part 221 via an alignment tool. The center of the shaft part 221 is divided at the screw hole working position of a main spindle tip end face 122 with reference to the center of the main spindle. A drive key 124 is abutted on the alignment tool of the divided shaft part 221 by rotating the main spindle 12, and the main spindle is divided by fixing the main spindle 12 at this position. By moving a table 13 in X and Y directions with reference to the center of the main spindle, a shaft part center 221A of a spindle stock 22 is successively divided at the screw hole working position at the tip end face 122 of the divided main spindle 12, a center hole is worked, a hole for tapping is worked, and a screw hole is worked in the tapping hole by a tap.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
