Solid model automatic generation system and method

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically produce a correct solid model even from plan view, elevation, and side view drawings by calculating a crossing line between the candidate faces, which are produced based on the face information, producing the candidate surfaces and ridgelines, and deleting the parts, which cannot exist as a solid body. ;SOLUTION: A face information extraction means 1 extracts the information on faces from plan view, elevation, and side view drawings, and a candidate face producing means 2 produces the candidate faces based on the extracted face information. A candidate face/ ridgeline producing means 3 calculates a crossing line between the candidate faces to generate the candidate faces and ridgelines. A candidate solid body producing means 5 decides a combination of candidate faces and produces a candidate solid body. A solid model selection means 6 collates the candidate solid body with the plan view, elevation, and side view drawings and selects a coincident solid model. At the same time, a deletion means 4 deletes the candidate faces and ridgelines, which cannot exist as a solid body. When the candidate solid body is collated with the plan view, elevation, and side view drawings, the means 6 also projects the candidate solid body on the plan view, elevation, and side view drawings and decides the coincidence between the candidate solid body and the plan view, elevation, and side view drawings when the candidate solid body is contained in a prescribed box.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
