PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an antenna having characteristics matching needs on the market by providing a new adjusting method for a resonance frequency and adjusting method for a radiation pattern characteristic for a conventional slot loop antenna having only a single characteristic.;SOLUTION: The antenna has structure such that slot lines having different overall lengths are arranged looped on the front and the rear surfaces of a high-frequency substrate, a loop on the front surface is connected to a coplanar line for excitation, one end of the loop on the rear surface is short-circuited, and the front and the rear surfaces of the substrate are electrically connected to the vicinity of an excitation point through a through hole. This antenna is characterized in that the resonance frequency of the antenna can be adjusted over a wide range by varying the length of the loop having one end short- circuited, i.e., the loop arranged on the rear surface. Further, the radiation pattern characteristics of the antenna can be adjusted from a characteristic close to a nondirectional characteristic to a sharp directional characteristic by varying the length of the loop having one end short-circuited.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
