SOLUTION: The hydrogen absorbing alloy for electrodes comprises hydrogen absorbing alloy particles having the surface layer in which the nickel concentration increases in the direction toward the surface from the inner part, thereon. An electrode 2 of the hydrogen absorbing alloy is prepared from the above hydrogen absorbing alloy and used for a negative electrode 2 of the alkali storage battery.
