Antibacterial and antifungal-resistant synthetic resin material and manufacturing method thereof

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an antibacterial and antifungal synthetic resin material relatively simply at a low cost, and to provide inexpensively various synthetic resin articles or components having persistent antibacterial and antifungal effect. ;SOLUTION: A synthetic resin substrate 1 containing an additive 2 which reacts with a metal salt to form an antibacterial and antifungal substance and part of which is exposed to the surface is prepared. That part of the additive which is exposed to the surface is reacted with a metal salt to form an antibacterial and antifungal substance 3. Examples of the additives used include oxides, hydroxides and carbonates of aluminum, magnesium and calcium. Examples of the metal salts used include chlorides, sulfates, acetates, nitrates and carbonates of copper, zinc, silver and nickel. According to this method, a synthetic resin material to the surface of which an antibacterial and antifungal substance is exposed and which has persistent antibacterial antifungal effect can be obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
