MODIFICATION METHOD FOR CONVERTING FIVE-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION IN TO SIX-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To modify a five-speed manual transmission in to a six-speed manual transmission.;SOLUTION: At end of an input shaft 11 provided with a fifth-speed driving gear 14 is extended, and an additional sixth-speed driving gear 9 is mounted on the end of the input shaft 11. A sixth-speed driven gear 10 is next mounted on an outer surface of a differential case 30 connected to an output shaft 15. The fifth-speed driving gear 14 and the sixth-speed driving gear 9 are switched over by a sleeve hub 25 having been used to switch the fifth-speed driving gear 14 and a reverse driving gear 5. A forward selecting shifter fork 2 and a reverse selecting shifter fork 3 of different mounting angles are mounted on a selector arm 4 rotatable according to the shift position of a shift lever. A reverse engaging shifter fork 35 is provided, to which the reverse selecting shifter fork 3 is connected when the shift lever is shifted into an R (reverse) position. Shifter rods 7 and 9 connected from the reverse engaging shifter fork 35 to a reverse driving shifter fork 6 for operating the reverse driving gear 5 are extended.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
