PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an optical surface consisting of a discontinuous surface like the diffracted surface of a diffraction optical element by glass molding.;SOLUTION: The die (1) for glass molding obtained by forming an electroless plating layer (11) on a die base (10) is specified to ≤2×10-6/K in the difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion between the die base (11) and the electroless plating layer (11). Then, not only the workability but the heat resistance and pressure resistance are enhanced and therefore the occurrence of a failure in forming the optical surface consisting of the discontinuous surface like the diffracted surface of the element is averted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
