PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize improvement of the component reliability and reduction in the component cost as well as its manufacturing cost while highly maintaining the wavelength dependent characteristics of optical transmission loss in a long periodic grating component.;SOLUTION: This long periodic grating optical fiber 2 is composed of a core layer 10, a first clad layer 12 for clad mode propagation covering the core layer 10, and a second clad layer 13 that covers the first clad layer 12 and that keeps, inside the first clad layer 12, the optical signal of the clad mode propagated through the first clad layer 12.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
