METHOD TO EVALUATE FILTER PERFORMANCE OF LEUKOCYTE REMOVING FILTER AND LEUKOCYTE REMOVING FILTER MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which evaluates filtering performance of a leukocyte removing filter by a small quantity of blood and a small filtering volume and a leukocyte removing filter material which can recover blood platelets from the blood component and selectively remove leukocyte. SOLUTION: Blood and this leukocyte removing filter are put in a vessel and stirred to be in contact, and then the number of leukocytes and the number of blood platelets in the blood left in the vessel are counted to evaluate the blood filtering performance of a leukocyte removing filter. This leukocyte removing filter material satisfies the following equations (1), (2) using the numbers obtained the method: 0=Sw/Cw0.6 (1) 1=Sp/Cp0.5 (2) where Sw is the number of left leukocytes after stirring in the vessel which the blood and the leukocyte removing filter material are put in, Cw is the number of the left leukocytes after stirring in the vessel which only the blood is put in, Sp is the number of left blood platelets after stirring in the vessel which the blood and the leukocyte removing filter material are put in, and Cp is the number of left blood platelets after stirring in the vessel which only the blood is put in.
