PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a yarn setting method to a take-up tube in an automatic winder for smoothly and speedily conducting yarn setting work from a supply yarn wound body to the take-up tube without adding a special device, and an automatic winder.;SOLUTION: A number of take-up units 2 each comprising a bobbin yarn catching guide member 22 to catch yarn of the supply yarn wound body 5 to be guided to a yarn piecing device 20 for pulling up the yarn of the supply yarn wound body 5 to be taken up by the take-up tube to form a take-up yarn wound body 6 are provided in parallel, and a doffing device 3 is provided to run based on a demand signal along the take-up units to reach the take-up unit 2 issuing a demand signal for taking up yarn of the supply yarn wound body 5 caught by the bobbin yarn catching guide member 22 to be set to the take-up tube installed on the take-up unit in this yarn setting method for the automatic winder. When the take-up unit 2 demands action of the doffing device 3, the yarn of the supply yarn wound body 5 is caught by the bobbin yarn catching guide member 22, and the bobbin yarn catching guide member 22 is moved to a take-up yarn wound body 6 as the yarn of the supply yarn wound body 5 has the yarn, and the demand signal is then given.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
