PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for strengthening a reinforced concrete rigid-frame structure, which improves the strength of the whole rigid-frame structure to minimize its deformation while maintaining a space enclosed by a beam and both columns forming an original reinforced concrete rigid-frame structure, as large as possible, and to provide an apparatus for strengthening the same.;SOLUTION: According to the method, a new column 12 is formed by covering the original column 13 from its leg to its head with a steel pipe 22, and a gap between the original column 13 and the new column 12 is filled with non-contractive mortar 24, to thereby strengthen the original column. Then, lower chords 30 are arranged on both sides of the beam 10 at lower locations of the same, and an end of each lower chord 30 is linked to a collar-shaped strengthening portion 28 of the head of the column 12. Further, a lower portion of a web member 34 arranged on each side portion of the beam 10 is welded to the lower chord 30, to thereby form two isosceles triangular planes of structure each having the lower chord 30 as a lower side.
